DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS was formed in Zagreb, Croatia in January of 2004. After the break up of Radio Free Isaac (and prior to that the bands Nikad and Lunar), Neven, Ozren and Saša decided to form another band and wasted no time creating their own brand of instrumental and epic rock.
Contrary to the standard and usual routine, DON’T MESS WITH TEXAS stick to their own saying: you can’t beat guitar, bass, drums and piano.

Jónsi & Alex are Jón Þór “Jónsi” Birgisson of Sigur Rós, and Alex Somers, of Parachutes. Under the name Riceboy Sleeps they exhibited their visual art collaborations, published a picture book in 2006 and after several years of composing music together released their debut album - again called Riceboy Sleeps - on July 20th, 2009. (Previously available tracks were also credited to Riceboy Sleeps; for the album’s release they opted to use their given names.) On their website, www.jonsiandalex. com, one can download Boy 1904 for free, and view different videos and media that explores some of the stories behind Jónsi & Alex and the recording and evolution of the album.

Combining dark orchestral textures with a strikingly melodic beauty, Johan Söderqvist has written a truly unique score for Let the Right One In. Tomas Alfredson's film is based on the vampire novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist and has won numerous international awards. The music is performed by the Slovak National Symphony Orchestra and features what is sure to be considered one of the single finest film themes in recent time: Eli's Theme.
"One of the things I try to do with every new picture is to find a unique sound, a new universe, which will suit the story and give it a musical personality. For Let the Right One In, I discovered an instrument called the bass waterphone, which I recorded endless samples of and then tweaked and worked into the fabric of the score. This defined the musical voice of this particular film", composer Johan Söderqvist says.

the score is amazing and I have no words to describe the beauty of the main song "Eli's Theme". highly highly recommended.

This latest release from Icelandic modern classical luminary Ólafur Arnalds is a score penned for the award-winning British choreographer Wayne McGregor. This thirty-minute soundtrack follows on from the acclaimed Found Songs project (through which Arnalds produced and distributed one new song per day for a week over Twitter) and continues to chart the young composer’s rise to the very top of his field. Consuming soundtrack releases as standalone entities can be a hit-and-miss affair; sometimes these projects simply don’t have the same impact as an independently realised work, yet Dyad 1909 suffers no such problems. Right down to the track sequencing this makes for a sublime continuous listening experience. While piano and strings are at the heart of the music, Arnalds is always keen to employ technology, resulting in some Johann Johannsson-style computer vocals on ‘Við vorum smá’, brilliant field recording-based dark ambience on ‘Frá upphafi’ and ‘…og lengra’ and outbursts of fearsome, volcanic sounds not unlike those heard across Bjork’s magnum opus, Homogenic. Another outstanding release from Arnalds that’s downright essential for all followers of melodic and melancholic modern classical music.

Laymar are a three piece experimental post-rock band from Manchester, UK.

Layered soundscapes with guitar and bass guitar picking out the melody, synthed loops, keyboards and programmed beats and blips added to live drumming. The band mix time signatures, beats and rhythms and their music can sometimes be dark and atmospheric, epic and melodic, tense and dramatic. In 2007 the band was asked to play the Glastonbury Festival.

Now signed to TV Records (Tenor Vossa Records) - home of Breathless, Bender and Moly - their debut album “In Strange Lines & Distances” was released on 2nd June 2008. Pre-release reviews were very encouraging with the word “outstanding” a common denominator.
